Guys,

I'm lookinf for advices on how to study for CCIE V5, I was on the exam last 2/06 and failed. I'm frustated because I was sure that I passed on configuration section, everything was working, my l2,l3, bgp.....and then when I got the score reports, I've got failed on configuration section as well......Im still dont know how cisco score it....frustating......

Now, I dont know if I should step back untill the end of this year, and try other stuff like ccnp voice (which is good for my job here) or I take a break and come back up to study for v5...

what do you think ?

thx

Route tagging and Prefering the path

HI,

Can advice the other methods we could use for R5 to prefer the path from BB1 and BB3.

I tried to tag the routers from BBs and tried to set nex-hop as R1 and R2 for those tagged Prefixes, but couldnt achieve the result.

Is that a correct way ??

Thanks

Hello all,

unfortunately I failed my first attempt in Brussels on Monday. I felt that I passed the configuration part, but I didn't.

V4 is over, so I need to prepare for v5 now.

ZBPF Routed Mode task

Dears,

In WB1, and in the solution of ZBPF routed mode, we were asked to allow icmp except src/dst 150.1.0.0/16 within the OUTSIDE zone.
In the solution, here is the below:

ip access-list extended OUTSIDE_TO_OUTSIDE
 deny icmp 150.1.0.0 0.0.255.255 150.1.0.0 0.0.255.255
 permit icmp any any

class-map type inspect match-all OUTSIDE_TO_OUTSIDE_ICMP
 match protocol icmp
 match access-group name OUTSIDE_TO_OUTSIDE

My question is:
If ACL OUTSIDE_TO_OUTSIDE matches ICMP, why do we need the "match protocol icmp" command within the class-map?

What is the use of keeping VIP in ZBPF?

Hello,

What is the use of this command "redundancy 1 ip 136.1.128.15 exclusive" in ZBPF high avialbility? Because I can't see any gratuitous arp requests when changing from active to standby mode and its using physical ip address not the VIP. But in ASA it's generating gratuitous ARP's when there is a failover event  and lan segment is poiting towards virtual ip address. Can some please clarify my doubt.

Hi Guys,

I have a simple question !

For Layer 3, we ran out of ip addresses so we are on the verge of moving to IPv6.

But for Layer 2, and specifically in the case of MAC addresses ..why dont we run out of them?

What i mean ..is it possible say in the rarest case ..to encounter two exact same MAC addresses..and if that happenes what can be the viable solution?

I request everyone to solve my query (Brian McGahan Please !! ) ;)

Thank you.

Happy Networking.

A great demo was given today by Bruno Van de Werve on a webex of all three sections of the V5 R&S Lab Exam.

The Cisco team will post the recording soon to CLN just search for the following at CLN>>

CCIE Routing and Switching v5.0 Post Webinar Discussion

Today Bruno showed how to access all switches and routers in the virtual environment as well as how each section will look when taking the exam.

It was noted that a minimum score will be needed in each section to achieve the overall cut score.

It was also noted that you can log into each virtual node via a drop down console list or by hovering over each node in the topology. This was shown in the Demo.

This was a great demo of the TSHOOT, Practical and Config Sections. I highly recommend watching this video or tracking the post of it so you can get used to seeing this new format.

Hello Team,

I'm at the beginning stage of my preparation for v5 R&S exam and referring to EIGRP at the moment. I stuck at below topics-

-EIGRP OTP point-to-point peering

-EIGRP OTP route-reflector peering

-EIGRP OTP multiple service provider scenario

If the CCIE exam expects us to get an in depth knowledge on these topics, can you pls help me to provide few good documentation on these which covers these in detail? I tried to google it, but didn't couldn't find any good ones

Hi All

Can anyone please suggest the Lab topology for RSv5 which I can modelled in GNS3.

I have INE Dynamips topology which was for RSv4. Should we use the same topology?

I appear to be missing something here, but I'm not quite sure what it is - could someone kindly take a look?

I want R7 to adv two gateways for 150.1.5.5/32 in the RIB.  I've set variance to 2.  I've tweaked metrics and they so that the FS should now also be a S route:

R7#sh ip ei top 150.1.5.5/32
EIGRP-IPv4 Topology Entry for AS(100)/ID(150.1.7.7) for 150.1.5.5/32
State is Passive, Query origin flag is 1, 1 Successor(s), FD is 131072
  Descriptor Blocks:
  155.1.37.3 (GigabitEthernet1.37), from 155.1.37.3, Send flag is 0x0
Composite metric is (131072/130816), route is Internal
      Vector metric:
        Minimum bandwidth is 1000000 Kbit
        Total delay is 5020 microseconds
        Reliability is 255/255
        Load is 1/255
        Minimum MTU is 1400
        Hop count is 2
        Originating router is 150.1.5.5
  155.1.67.6 (GigabitEthernet1.67), from 155.1.67.6, Send flag is 0x0
Composite metric is (131328/131072), route is Internal
      Vector metric:
        Minimum bandwidth is 1000000 Kbit
        Total delay is 5030 microseconds
        Reliability is 255/255
        Load is 1/255
        Minimum MTU is 1500
        Hop count is 3
        Originating router is 150.1.5.5

But the RIB only installs 1 entry:

R7#sh ip route | in 150.1.5.5
D        150.1.5.5 [90/131072] via 155.1.37.3, 00:21:42, GigabitEthernet1.37

Seems a bit basic but I cant see what else is required?

EGIRP issues on Router Sub Interface .. Convergence Takes longer ..

$

Hello Evereyone  ,

I am going to through  Brian's INE CCNP route (EIGRP) recording and I have same INE real LAB and during my EIGRP lab practice i notice that convergence takes longer over sub interface when switch is in the middle same topology as in INE CCNP EIGRP class .

and when I search on Cisco forum , is says that EIGRP work different over LAN . So what I can think of is when we shutdown sub interface on router but main interface is up so EIGRP wait for hold time expire and then switch over to FS . how we can fix that ?

can we just move to main interface ?  sub interface is same as router on a stick to make any to any connectivity ..

Please advise

Thanks

ASA Cut-Through Proxy Authentication

$

Just though I would share my issue and the fix I had with Option 5 under the ASA Cut-through proxy section. I had the http service enabled here when beginning this example. I then enable the aaa authentication listener and disabled the http server "no http server enable". I couldn't get the page to display http://136.1.17.17:4444/netaccess/connstatus.html. I noticed that connection was establishing just fine in the connection table but i never got the login page on the web browser.

To resolve the issue I simply removed the aaa authentication listener and added it back. The page immediately came up. Seems there is an order of operations here if you plan to have the http process disabled but use http based logins for cut-through proxy.

Happy Studying,

Eric
