Lab configuration section: time budget for job aid creation

Hi guys,

Lab date is coming up in a few days and I could really use some input on this topic.

In my simulations job-aid creation is taking between 35-40 minutes from start to finish.  That seems like a large chunk of time out of 6 hours.  It's concerning to me.

I'm Looking for ways to speed it up without cutting corners.   It's the building of the task list that comes to the fore.  How to make it faster.

What I've been doing in my simulations is prior to doing any configuring:

1.  Skim through the workbook, and build a tracking table with a list of tasks and colums for completion status, wether it's core connectivity or not, and the points.  I put an + mark next to non-core tasks that look like like quick points and a - mark for tasks that look like time sinks so I can prioritize after building the core.

2.  redraw the layer 3 diagram.

3.  Draw up the l2 diagram.

When working through the workbook tasks, this seems to be a great setup.  But as mentioned it's taking between 35-40m, and that strikes me as *a lot*.

questions regarding creating the task tracking sheet:

a) I've been drawing out the lines.  do they provide ruled paper?  If not can I bring some in?

b) is there an optimal way to scan through the task list and break it down into a table?  I've been taking two passes, one to get the task numbers written down so I have my rows, then going back and reading the tasks to fill in colums.  Is there a better way?

Any feedback on this would be appreciated.  Thanks.
